what you get if you work at a call center

Friday, August 14th, 2009

To be exact, I’ve been a call center agent for a year and 15 days and…oops, just never mind the hours and seconds if you still want to keep your sanity. The last time I was able to be on my slumber the whole night time was almost  a year ago because even if it is my RD (short for rest day) I’m still a vampire. Anyway, here are just the few things I got being a call center agent:

  • big amount of Php with also big tax deduction
  • bonuses which still have tax deduction
  • 13th month pay (thank God, it’s non-taxable)
  • snore deprivation (i badly need some Zzzzz’s here)
  • sore throat
  • health insurance
  • life insurance (if I were dead then that’s the only time that I could fully benefit from it…or could really I?)
  • irate callers who don’t even know what a wallpaper is
  • supervisory calls (callers don’t trust me; my supervisor will just tell them the same thing though)
  • free cups of coffee. as in FREE.
  • daily dose of outlook spams. these are good ones though.
  • you get to talk to people from big time companies (SonyEricsson, Disney, etc.)

And I still have a lot to add to the above list but sorry because my mind is floating somewhere else. I badly need some zzzz’s.

P. S.: Did I mention for what that picture is? Decoration.

My First Ever Blog Award

Friday, August 14th, 2009

First of all, let me clarify that I am not a girl. I’m a man trapped inside a man’s body although the picture your seeing in this post is of a woman.

Let’s go straight to the point. I’d like to express my gratitude to DedeAndro for giving me this J’Adore Tien Blog award. And to stop your nose from bleeding, the french to english translation of that is I Love Your Blog (just correct DedeAndro if he’s wrong). Well, thanks for loving my blog. I do hope you people out there also feel the same. If you do, just keep the feeling and someday I’ll share with you my joy of this is blog being on the top. Cheers.

Busy with a new blog project

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

I haven’t made any blog post for more than three days. I have been cogitating, contemplating and pondering. LOL. To be honest, I’ve just been busy with my new blog project. Yes, it is another wordpress baby but I would say that the concept is kind of unique. There are people blogging about tech gadgets, SEO, personal life, music, movie, adsense, current events, politics, religion.  Name them all if you can. But I’ve never heard of a blog about a particular race and the world its members are moving in. Until I started it. It isn’t published and there’s not a post yet. I’m still playing with the looks. However, I hope before the day ends, search engines are all ready to crawl it. :)

How An Amateur Takes Photos

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

photographictrippingI love photography. I’m not sure though if photography loves me. LOL :D . I never had a formal education about it  neither did I have any related training. I remember joining a photography contest before for school papers. And I lost. I joined again the next year and lost the second time around. It was just for fun and I knew that there was no harm in trying. But I believe you know how it feels like to be a LOSER. That’s it. I have written it. I admit I was a loser. How could I outstand others when what they had were pro cams armed with photography background and when what I had was digital cam that just digitally zoomed and had no good picture quality blahblahblah. So when (more…)

It’s A Green-Minded Day!

Wednesday, August 5th, 2009

greenminded

A Wednesday. A day-off. My last Wednesday day-off before the schedule with a both  co-agent and a teammate takes effect. I usually go to the mall on this Day. Nope, I’m not there for clothes; I’m there to shoplift. I mean, for grocery. Inside, I noticed that most mallers were wearing yellow. Maybe because it was their way of showing of being one with the other Filipinos who were mourning for the loss Cory Aquino who died recently. And I thought this would be a yellow day. Or so I did. The Flutist

The Flutist

The Flutist tells the story of a boy who, at the start, didn’t like music that much but after hearing a a flute piece from a music opera he began to love music more than he ever thought of. This story does not concern himself alone but also of his younger brother and his family.  Originally, its title was Debris and Dust which didn’t sound good to me so I changed it to The Flutist. I wrote this during my third year in our school paper The Anthonian. This was included (as always ) in the first release for that school year. If you’re soft-hearted, please have a  hanky or tissue paper handy with you; otherwise just continue reading. (more…)

How I Miss Writing!

The Anthonian ocverpage. Second release for AY 2007-2008

The Anthonian ocverpage. Second release for AY 2007-2008

How I miss writing! Not the thing that refers to just getting a pen and paper and (yeah) “writing” something on it. It’s about doing it for. a publication. It’s been a long long long while since the last time I wrote one–about a year and three months ago. This writing skill brought me to Guimaras Island (prior to the oil spill incident), to school paper seminars in Iloilo and Tagaytay City and to the beautiful and white sand beaches of the ever popular  Boracay Island, and this even helped me pay my college tuition fees not to include my free daily internet access and computer encoding. I also miss the stressful but enjoyable all-day editing job at the publishing house. And I long to design again the cover for our school mag (which I was able to do without the help of Adobe Photoshop but with the free edition of ULEAD and the open source GIMP). Unfortunately I don’t have even a single copy  of those papers handy with me, not even an email attachment. Luckily though (and for now) I can share with you some of the literary pieces I wrote and was able to publish on my friendster blog. You’ll like it. Hopefully.

Self –Reflection: A Thousand Miles Across One’s Self

Take some moments to reflect on this…

There was a man who was dissatisfied with himself. Discontentment and indecision seemed to be his lot because he was afraid of what might happen if he ventured out by himself. So, he thought that if he’d follow what other people tell him to do and imitate what they do and pretend as them, he would somehow do well. And he did! (more…)

Transferring My skeggin.info

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

My other blog, skeggin.info, has been down for almost 48 hours for reasons I don’t know . Earlier this morning, I decided to reconfigure “again” my DNS settings for that domain. I pointed it to a different one. The process (called domain name propagation) usually takes 24 to 48 hours to complete and until now, I’m still waiting for it to finish. Luckily though, I was able to export all the contents of that blog, including the author’s posts, tags, categories and the comments made. I can still access the files via FTP so i just download the upload folder. So later, once the propagation has already completed, I’ll just have to reinstall the theme I was using and then reconfigure the sidebar. What a bright idea! And yes, it may sound simple but it is VERY FRUSTRATING. :(

Let’s Exchange Links!

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Let your blog rolling. This past few days I’ve been getting some requests from other bloggers to exchange banners or links with them. And I though that it was a good idea. Indeed, it was and still is. So I decided to find some wordpress plugins that could automate the process of reciprocal link exchange. I was hoping that I could find one. No success though. I had rather to decided the free service provided my mcklinky.com. I’ll settle on this for now but in the future, I’ll be just installing a reciprocal link exchange site of my own. :)

Anyone who would like to exchange links with me may use the following code:

<p style=”text-align: center;”><a href=”http://blogaddict.info” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://i625.photobucket.com/albums/tt339/danespeaks/blogaddictinfologo.png” alt=”" width=”218″ height=”40″ /></a></p>

What’s wrong with my Skeggin.info?

Sunday, August 2nd, 2009

My other blog,  I mean my mom’s, has been down for almost 24 hours and I can’t seem to figure out why. What will happen to my topsite codes and the virtual hamster I posted there? Poor creature. There’s no one to feed him. I have to find out why or it will go to the unending nothingness of a mental blank spot. Forever.

I know, the issue couldn’t be with my host. My other sites are functioning correctly. There could be something wrong with the scripts I installed.  And yeah, I tried  removing some  plugins via FTP but still no use.  Maybe I’ll just have to continue figuring this out myself. Lord, help me.
