Transferring My skeggin.info

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

My other blog, skeggin.info, has been down for almost 48 hours for reasons I don’t know . Earlier this morning, I decided to reconfigure “again” my DNS settings for that domain. I pointed it to a different one. The process (called domain name propagation) usually takes 24 to 48 hours to complete and until now, I’m still waiting for it to finish. Luckily though, I was able to export all the contents of that blog, including the author’s posts, tags, categories and the comments made. I can still access the files via FTP so i just download the upload folder. So later, once the propagation has already completed, I’ll just have to reinstall the theme I was using and then reconfigure the sidebar. What a bright idea! And yes, it may sound simple but it is VERY FRUSTRATING. :(

Web Without www

www.domain.com. Here we go again. Most of us would type a website this way. Some would even begin it with http colon forwardslash forwardslash. That’s the reality. I have nothing against it. But why tire your fingers out when you can just type domain.com? Imagine the amount of calories your are wasting for that when you could use to something more productive. I have just come across this which is pro to no wwww subdomain.  I certainly am new to and still don’t get the root cause of this but I like this idea. By the way, there is already a plugin for wordpress called wordpress no-www by Matt Mullenweg. If you need to comment about this plugin, just visit this page or download the plugin directly from here.

This blog has this no-wwww status:
